Name of the Project
Fekola solar project – Phase 2.

Location
Mali.

Project Owner/s
Vancouver-based  B2Gold Corp.

Project Description
The plant supplies about 30% of the Fekola mine site's total electricity demand, making it one of the largest off-grid solar/heavy fuel oil (HFO) hybrid power plants in the world.

The expansion adds 22 MW of solar capacity, bringing the total to 52 MW, and increases battery storage capacity by 12.7 MWh to 27.7 MWh.

The project includes an additional 46 200 solar panels, bringing the total panel count to 142 912.

The upgraded Fekola solar plant is expected to cut CO2-equivalent emissions by about 63 000 t/y and reduce heavy fuel oil consumption by an estimated 20-million litres a year.
